High Reliability
IceWEB offers a total data management solution consisting of hardware, software, and services. Its appliance design addresses the entire spectrum of data availability challenges and keeps enterprise data accessible. FileStorm storage systems include key features for enhanced reliability and availability:
· Built-in RAID for protection from data loss due to disk failures
· Hot spare disks for fast failure recovery
· Redundant hot-pluggable power supplies and cooling fans
· Enterprise Class Feature Set
Delivering Seamless, Rapid Access to Multi-protocol Data
FileStorm NAS Appliances attach to Ethernet networks providing easy NAS integration. Multi Platform Support for UNIX and Linux NFS, Windows CIFS, AppleTalk and Novell shares for file access. Additional support for iSCSI provides block-storage access to multiple clients. The FileStorm design optimizes and consolidates high-performance data access for individuals in multi-user environments as well as for application servers and server clusters with dedicated access. All features which guarantee accessibility to legacy data.
Lowering TCO, Increasing ROI
A high data availability rate reduces costly downtime, and maximizes access to mission-critical data. FileStorm Appliances provide ease of deployment to meet the entire spectrum of data availability challenges and enterprise data accessibility. The reduction of the Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) and provides a strong competitive advantage.
Ensuring Business Continuance
FileStorm works within the existing network infrastructure, to grant comprehensive disaster readiness. Implementing remote site mirroring and disaster recovery plans to meet specific needs quickly and effectively allows flexibility in order to meet changing needs.
Unifying Enterprise Storage Infrastructures
FileStorm Appliances allow simultaneous support of both file and block level data access procedures that previously required multiple systems. The storage access protocols include NFS, CIFS, iSCSI, and HTTP, running over standard connection types: Gigabit Ethernet, Fibre Channel, and SCSI. These capabilities provide easy management of data and offer users features for managing block level data previously available only for file level data. These features include allocating storage between volumes and Logical Unit Numbers (LUNs), dynamically expanding LUNs, and near instantaneous replication and restoration of LUNs.
FileStorm Appliances offer the highest-performing most scalable IceWEB enterprise storage system using Advanced Software: Optimized for Data Storage and Management
- Consistency Points - Always a consistent data volume image on disk, even after unplanned shutdowns. Virtually eliminates the need to run time-consuming file system checks.
- Snapshot Technology - Snapshot produces nearly instantaneous, transparent, read only, online copies of the active data volumes. Any user can quickly recover deleted or modified files without administrative assistance or a cumbersome tape restore. The Snapshot function requires minimal disk space and causes no disruption of service. To minimize business disruption, Snapshot copies can be backed up to other media while users are modifying the active file system.
- Single Instance Storage - Single Instance storage enables the server to store only one instance on the disk although several copies of the same file might exist to the application. This is created by using links which are independent of user intervention and has been shown to save more than 35% disk space and reduce storage management costs.
- Snap Restoration - Allows any system to revert back to a specified data volume Snapshot copy for instant recovery. Terabytes can be recovered in minutes rather than hours, without going to tape. The software also greatly facilitates scenario testing as well as providing disaster recovery and virus protection.
- Application Snapping - Permits online backup and rapid recovery of Microsoft® Exchange, Lotus Domino, and Microsoft SOL Server data.
- Instant Backup-Provides extended and centralized disk-based backup for FileStorm storage by periodically backing up a Snapshot copy to another FileStorm system on the network.
- Synchronous Mirroring - Maintains two copies of data online to protect the system against all types of hardware outages, including triple disk failure.
- Snap Mirroring - Provides remote mirroring at high speeds over a LAN or WAN. The asynchronous mirroring can be used for disaster recovery, replication, backup, or testing on a non-production system.
- Snap Attributes - Compliance by providing non-rewritable, non-erasable data-permanence storage that enables compliance with government records-retention regulations and business-records-keeping best practices.
- Storage Resource Manager - Provides administrators with more knowledge of and control over what and how much is stored on file servers. First, Storage Resource Manager (SRM) provides administrators with both on-demand and scheduled reports detailing storage use. Second, SRM folder-based quotas allow administrators to limit the size of folders and volumes. Third, SRM file screening controls the type of data stored in a file or folder, permitting both the name-based screening of files and allowing/disallowing file creation on specified folder trees.
